Remembrance & Workstreams

Remembrance
For those who have registered with LABRATS to march at the Cenotaph Parade in London, e-tickets and joining instructions will be issued directly by the Royal British Legion on 30 and 31 October. For security reasons, these will be sent directly to the email address you provided when registering.
If you have registered and have not received an email by 2 November, please contact us.
A veteran and descendants will be attending the official opening of the Remembrance Garden in the grounds of Westminster Abbey on 5 November. Preparations are well underway, and we would like to thank Mike Chainey for his dedication and hard work, as well as the Nuclear Community Charity Fund (NCCF) and the BNTVA Museum for preparing the documentation and crosses.
It is important that veterans and their descendants continue to represent our community, demonstrating that it remains strong, resilient, and united. Descendants proudly continue the legacy of their fathers and grandfathers, ensuring that their service and sacrifice are remembered. For events of this significance, our priority will always be veterans, descendants, and community members who live with the realities and challenges of this issue every day.
Working together as a community is essential to ensuring that Nuclear Test Veterans and their families are never forgotten. Maintaining a strong presence at both the Remembrance Garden and the Cenotaph Parade helps ensure that our history, contributions, and continuing quest for truth and justice remain visible to the hundreds of thousands of people who attend these events each year.
Workstreams
Work continues across our four workstreams with the Cabinet Office: Inquiry, Memorialisation, Education, and Descendant Research. These remain the key priorities for the team drawn from the three organisations representing the community: the Nuclear Community Charity Fund, the BNTVA Museum, and LABRATS.
Representatives attended further meetings this week, and we continue to work collaboratively with the Cabinet Office and wider Government representatives.
We are now at a pivotal stage in the development of these workstreams. This work is of immense importance to the community we serve. By combining their experience, expertise, and commitment, the three organisations have made significant progress and will continue working on your behalf to ensure these projects deliver truth, justice, recognition, and a lasting legacy for current and future generations.
As always, we will keep the community informed of any developments. We remain committed to ensuring that the health and wellbeing of the community remains at the forefront of everything we do. The community must come first, and veterans and their families will always be our priority.
Conclusion
As community members, we live with the impact of these issues every day. We have seen too many veterans pass away without receiving the truth, recognition, and justice they deserved. Our focus remains on ensuring that the community receives the answers it seeks and that those affected are never forgotten. Throughout this process, the health and wellbeing of our community must remain a central consideration.
For many of us, our fathers are no longer here. Many campaigners who dedicated decades of their lives to this cause are no longer with us either. It is therefore our responsibility to continue their work, ensuring they receive the recognition they earned through their service and sacrifice. That is why it is so important that discussions are led by genuine community representatives who understand these struggles firsthand, supported by legal representatives who share our goals and commitment.
It is equally important that descendants are included in ongoing research and that appropriate studies continue to be undertaken. Too many questions remain unanswered, and the community deserves those answers.
We are now working constructively with the Cabinet Office to achieve these goals, supported by the Prime Minister and Government officials. While the workstreams are still at an early stage, meaningful progress is being made, and we will continue to keep you informed as developments occur.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in us as both community members and your representatives. Our work continues.

Thanks not giving me the opportunity to register for the parade I would love to march I need the exercise
Thanks you for the update, and thank you to the team for the tireless work on the Cenotaph arrangements and keeping our community's service visible.
On the 'Inquiry' workstream with the Cabinet Office, could the leadership clarify whether discussions are pushing for a formal statutory inquiry - one with the legal powers to take MoD and AWE evidence under oath and compel full, unredacted disclosure of historical records?
Learning the lessons of Hillsborough, any credible process requires an enforceable duty of candour. We know that thousands of operational test files, Canberra aircrew dosimetry ledgers, and health physics reports remain held under extended 90-year closures stretching into the 2090s. For this workstream to deliver the truth where past reviews failed, the…
