No10 Meeting

On the 24th September 2026, LABRATS representatives met with the Prime Minister Andy Burnham and the Secretary of State for Defence Wes Streeting for discussions regrding the Nuclear Test Veteran Community.

Steve Purse, his wife Gina and their young family attended, with Steve Foote and Alan Owen. They have been working closely with the OVA and the Cabinet Office on the missing medical records report and the campaign for truth and justice.

We talked about what the veterans and their families have been through and what matters most to them now. This is the start of a conversation, not the end, and we'll be working together on next steps.

The staff were very accommodating of Steve's young family and it was a very productive day.

The Prime Minister kept his word and has met with us early in his premiership and is was extremely encouraging that the Defence Secretary also attended to listen to our priorities.

This is the first step for the Nuclear Community under new leadership and we will continue to engage constructively with the Cabinet Office, alongside regular meetings with the office for Veterans' Affairs.

This is an historic moment for LABRATS, but there is still a lot of work to do and it is just the start.
