In Memoriam

At the All Tests Reunion at Pontins, Sand Bay, Weston-Super-Mare, UK on the 21st September 2021, a memorial bench was unveiled in memory of Sandie Hern and Jim Cooper.

JIM COOPER

20th June 1939 - 5th July 2021

Jim was the creator of the All Tests Reunion and ran the reunion for many years. At the peak of the reunion, it had over 600 participants, he will be greatly missed by us all.

Without his vision and passion to create an event where the whole nuclear community could socialise and enjoy themselves, the ATR would not exist.

SANDIE HERN

4th September 1945 - 5th August 2021

Sandie took over the reunion from Jim, with her husband Doug. She was an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed.

Sandie worked tirelessly, not just for the nuclear veterans, but for the Merchant Navy Association, and helped thousands of veterans and their families.

The bench is inscribed with the following:

"In Memory of Sandie Hern & Jim Cooper

Who made this a special place for so many Nuclear Veterans"

The bench was positioned in the Cafe garden, next to the fish pond, overlooking the beach. Many people took the time to sit and reflect and to say goodbye to two very much loved friends.

The bench will be maintained by LABRATS and oiled each year at the ATR to ensure that it can be used by thousands of people, providing a lasting tribute to all those that have passed on without the justice that they deserve.

"We will remember them"
