At Prime Ministers Questions yesterday, Rebecca Long-Bailey MP asked the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson to meet with her constituent John Morris and other representatives of the nuclear veterans, he agreed to organise a meeting and look them in the eye.
The #lookmeintheeye campaign is a joint campaign with The Daily Mirror as part of their 'A Medal for Heroes' campaign. We met with Rebecca, John Healey, Stephanie Peacock, Steve Purse, Jacqueline Purse, Susie Boniface, and Sir Keir Starmer earlier this year and the Labour Party pledged their full support for the campaign.

We have been working very closely with the Labour Party since that meeting in a working group. Rebecca finally had her question accepted and directed Laura's hurt directly to the Prime Minister.

This is the official question and response in Hansard:

This is a major step forward for our campaign as the Prime Minister had originally refused to meet with us, it has taken a lot of time and effort from many people to get this far and we will ensure that at the meeting, the Prime Minister is made fully aware of the struggles of the veterans and their families and that the UK Government need to formally recognise them.
This is another step forward to our goal of medallic recognition. 2022 is the 70th anniversary of Operation Hurricane, the 60th anniversary of Operation Dominic. It is time to recognise the veterans and end the 70 years of denial.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the #lookmeintheeye campaign, especially Rebecca and her team, the Labour Party, Susie Boniface, The Daily Mirror, Laura, John, Steve, Jacqueline and Brian Cowden for their dedication to the cause. There are many others who have contributed, making videos, sharing posts, lobbying MP's and signing our banner, we thank you all for your dedication to the nuclear veterans.
We are not at our goal yet, there is still a lot of work to do, but we are now another step closer to achieving it.
