The latest application for medallic recognition for the British nuclear test veterans has been denied by the Advisory Military Sub-Committee. As reported by Forces.Net - CLICK HERE for the full article.
This latest denial is an insult to the British nuclear test veterans and their families. Despite the evidence that is undeniable, that has been given to them on now 4 occasions, the committee still refuses to accept that the service of the test veterans meets the risk and rigour required. In fact, the committee has yet to award a medal to any applications. CLICK HERE for details.
Ever since the 1955 memo from Prime Minister Anthony Eden on considering the genetic effects of Nuclear Radiation and his response 'it is a pity, but we cannot help it'. The UK Government has not acknowledged the nuclear veterans or their service, they are the only nuclear superpower yet to acknowledge their service.

The other testing countries have acknowledged their servicemen, including the Fijian government who themselves compensated the Fijians because the UK government also refused to acknowledge them:
The Isle of Man recognised their British nuclear test veterans, the UK refuses:
The New Zealand Government awards their Nuclear Test Veterans a medal, which was endorsed by the Queen of England.

The US Government payout to British nuclear test veterans who were part of Operation Dominic on Christmas Island in 1962 as part of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). Our #lookmeintheeye campaign continues to lobby the UK Government to overturn this injustice, the UK Government should be embarrassed by their actions. On the 25th November 2021, Leo Docherty told us that the government has an ambitious vision of making this country the best place to be a veteran and as Minister for Defence People and Veterans it is his role to deliver it.

This denial of any form of recognition is disgraceful. This is despite Mr Docherty's statement:
"We will never forget their service and I am steadfast
that we must continue to recognise all they did for this country"
Mr Docherty might want to start by looking at the Defence Peoples Secretariat within the Ministry Of Defence. We received this letter 10 days before Mr Docherty's.

The MoD have thousands of documents under review, yet they state that they have comprehensively and exhaustively responded to my many letters and FOI requests. This letter was in response to an ICO ruling that they could not deny FOI requests from a vexatious person, only the individual request. We have many members of the 'Vexatious' club, including veterans, descendants and journalists. Are we close to the truth? One veteran told me this week that somewhere, every day a civil servant eats his breakfast, goes to work and it is his job to protect the lies and to deny the truth of the nuclear testing program. Is he right?
Our message for Mr Docherty, your letter is just words, it is time for actions, time for this government to stop this injustice, recognise the veterans, and award them a medal. We will continue to fight through the #lookmeintheeye campaign.
Time for Mr Docherty and the UK Government to make this country the best place for veterans, award them a medal, give them the recognition they deserve. Do your duty, the veterans have done theirs. We are not vexatious people, just people seeking the truth and justice for our brave servicemen and their families.
Please do not insult the servicemen and their families any further. The campaigns will continue, our voices will continue to be heard. In 2022, on the 70th anniversary of Operation Hurricane, the 60th anniversary of Operation Dominic our voices will be louder than ever!
