4.2 MILLION VIEWS

The Campaign for Social Justice created a video for our campaign for truth and justice. Peter Stefanovic has supported many causes and has been a great supporter of our cause.

His video on the Social Media platform X has now reached 4.2 million views. We understand that many veterans are not on X and therefore haven't seen it, so we have created this blog so that you can all watch it.

The UK Government has not lived up to the promises made in Opposition.

Peter is also putting out a daily piece counting the number of days since we sent our letter asking the Ministry of Defence and John Healey to speak with us. This is today's:

Many of you know that we meet monthly with the Office for Veterans' Affairs, and one item on our agenda is asking why the MoD has ignored our letters. Each month, we ask the same question, and each month we receive the same answer:

"I am sorry, I don't have an update for you."

I don't blame the Office for Veterans' Affairs for this; they are doing their job, they have been very helpful and are our conduit to other government departments. So who is to blame? Keir Starmer? John Healey? Al Carns?

John Healey is now the Secretary of State for Defence and can be heard saying in 2022:

"We are totally together on the campaign for justice and compensation."

So what changed his mind? Keir Starmer stated that the first item on his agenda was Hillsborough Law, yet one year on, no such law has been introduced, and only this week, he blocked Hillsborough Law, which was introduced into Parliament by Ian Bryne MP.

So what is going wrong? There are many unresolved scandals involving the MoD and the UK Government. The Hillsborough Law Group contains many campaign groups, all fighting for truth and justice. The Chinnok Justice campaign (https://www.chinookjusticecampaign.co.uk/0 is also fighting for justice after documents were sealed for 100 years.

All of these injustices need answers, they need the truth, they need the Duty of Candour in Hillsborough Law to be implemented so that officials can be sent to prison for their actions. This country was once called Great Britain, but as one of the campaigners, I have to say we are no longer Great. We have some fantastic MPs across the country, many of them backbenchers, supporting campaigns, fighting for the truth. We are very lucky to have them on our side, and we thank them for their support.

Many veterans told me that they had seen it before, Neil Kinnock promising a full inquiry under the next Labour government in 1986.

39 years ago that letter was written, and the UK Government still deny any responsibility, instead spending millions of pounds of taxpayers' money on fighting the veterans in court.

No one seems strong enough to end these injustices. Does it come down to money? Is the treasury telling them not to even address the issues? How does a man who was so adamant about helping the veterans, getting them the justice they deserved, standing with them and discussing compensation suddenly stop? No longer communicates, no longer answers letters and stays silent.

Who sat him down in a room and told him not to talk to us? What does he know now that he didn't before, and if he is not strong enough to stand up, is he complicit in the cover-up himself?

We are awaiting our next meeting with Al Carns, which hopefully will be in September when we want answers to the missing medical records, the investigation and the release of the Merlin database. Our only chance of meeting him before then is to purchase a ticket to his latest fundraiser:

He describes himself as Britain's toughest MP. For any supporters in the West Midlands, we will pay for your ticket so you can ask him yourself why he isn't doing more to help. Perhaps we should challenge Al to sit and watch a Nuclear Explosion as our veterans did.

I challenge John Healey (because I know the MoD reads this blog, as they told us they do) to reach out before that meeting with Al Carns. You know where we are, we are ready to meet you anywhere.

Even if he wanted to reach out, who is telling him not to? As Steve Purse said, "Is the tail wagging the dog?" Stand up, be brave. If you are the toughest MP Al, show us by not being complicit in this scandal.

I had hope in these people, people who gave us face-to-face promises, was it all just to get votes? Was it all a scam? For the sake of Great Britain, I hope not.
