On the 23rd October 2025, we were privileged to be invited to a private viewing of 'Portraits of the Hibakusha - 80 years remembered', an absolutely fantastic exhibition of portraits of the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The preview took place at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre, Harbour Drive, Cardiff, CF10 4PA.
The exhibition runs from the 24th October to the 30th November and was created by Gina Langon of 80,000 voices and photographed by Patrick Boyd.
The evening started with speeches, with some incredible stories and testimony of the horrors of Hiroshima.
Each of the photographs is in 3D, a camera cannot capture the amazing definition and incredible photography. You have to see them for yourself; they are astonishing. It is as if you could talk to them; the definition is that incredible.
Each of the 14 portraits contains information relating to the person and a message of peace in their own words, translated into English, Welsh and Japanese. Watch the trailer below:
If you can make a trip to Cardiff, or are in the Cardiff area, you must visit this exhibition; it is an incredible piece of work. These images have been exhibited at the United Nations in New York and in Tokyo, marking the 80th anniversary of the bombings.
This exhibition shows the resilience of the Hibakusha and their unbelievable human spirit in the quest for peace, despite enduring the deadliest of man's creations.
We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to experience the exhibition at the exclusive preview, and we encourage you all to go and view the collection.
