This was the start of a great adventure but we don’t know everything, can anyone help?

He joined the British Royal Navy in 1946 and trained at HMS Ganges. This was the start of a great adventure but we don’t know everything, can anyone help? In 1948 he was on HMS Superb with Michael Le Fanu and Captain Alan Scott-Moncrieff as his senior officers. He was also on HMS Diadem. In 1949 he was at HMS Pembroke and on HMS Triumph with Captain A.D. Torlesse. He trained at HMS Ganges as a signalman and passed as a leading signals in 1951. In 1951 he was at HMS President and HMS Pembroke. Also HMS Neptune and HMS Slinger, he also attended HMS Hornbill (Harwell) whilst at HMS President (London headquarters for the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve) – he was involved in the festival of Britain celebrations with the HMS Campania as the flagship. A.D. Torelesse was the commanding officer. In October 1951 James Stewart attended HMS HORNBILL near OXFORD. It could also be called CULHAM, HARWELL or ALDERMASTON. In November 1951 he served on or at HMS SLINGER and HMS NEPTUNE. James Stewart was paid in December 1951 £10 by K.G. In 1952 James Stewart was on various ships and it is confusing. The Ministry of Defense (M.O.D.) have been asked to explain the confusion, however they do not have sufficient resources to explain, can anybody help? James Stewart was possibly on MMS 1584, HMS SLINGER, MMS 35, MMS 1534, HMS TAMAR. He was also in the United Kingdom, the Mediterranean and Hong Kong at the same time in 1952 (CLEVER MAN!). James Stewart’s service record in 1952 also refers to a complex 2030 code. In March 1952 there are medical records and they are not available from the M.O.D. The M.O.D. do not have resources to respond to my questions. In December 1952 James Stewart applied for a Q.R. and AI420. The M.O.D. do not have the resources to respond to what this means. In 1953 James Stewart was on HMS Birmingham and in November 1953 was admitted to hospital in Singapore, with a boxing injury. James Stewart was in hospital at HMS HASLAR with surgeon M.A. Rugg Gunn, Crumpsall Hospital Manchester, and RN Hospital Chatham in 1954. James Stewart was at HMS Mercury and HMS Pembroke also in 1954. February 1955 he was very lucky to marry MARIE WEARE and they had their honeymoon in Gillingham, Kent. He then served on HMS VIDAL and was involved in the claiming of ROCKALL September 1955.

In November 1955 Marie Weare/Stewart’s mum dies (Florence) and in December 1953 James Robert Stewart (Jnr) is born (another lucky day). In January 1956 James Stewart goes to HMS Phoenicia and Marie and James (Jnr) follow in Feb 1956. In May 1957 James and Marie lose twins prematurely in Malta. In October 1957 they are all back at HMS Pembroke in England. In January 1958 James Stewart is at HMS ARTHUR. In May 1958 James Stewart dies age 27 years (WHY). In August 1958 Jeffrey Robert Stewart is born. Does anyone know any part of the story? Does anyone know James, Marie, Florence?

Jim Stewart ( dad ) is on the right with his hands behind his back The M.O.D. has stated it would be unreasonable for the department to apply further resources to respond to another round of questions. I am his son Jeff Stewart and I ask everybody who can help to please do so by contact LABRATS.

Update 30th September 2022 from Jeff

Dad was at HMS President March 1951 to October 1951 There was two HMS PRESIDENT in London. One was a communication centre, but believe because of the national security that communication centre had the same name so to hide it's identity. I assume that it is highly possible that's where he was.
Although it may appear he was at the RNR or what would been the RNVR back then it would have been a cover and in fact he was serving in the communication centre, which was a highly guarded sensitive communication centre which was attached to Whitehall very hush hush stuff. Hence why some of the gaps in his service history you believe is there. Because of the nature of his work then they will remain listed as a minimum of secret and highly likely as top secret or even higher. If that's the case you will never uncover the real truth of his service.
